Artwork Description:
Estranged love was part of the first series of works that kickstarted my career in 2022, almost all of my works became tools to help me express, ground & discover myself, at a time when I'd become most disconnected.
This specific Piece in question evoked a yearning for connection and intimacy that surfaced amidst my mental disarray, the result depicts this desperate fight to reclaim love whilst being numbingly absent within every waking moment.
During the period of its creation I had been seeing a couple people who'd been present within this process, this close proximity to the work and in turn the works inspiration, adds to the tangible manifestation of a mirage-like lust & love that never surfaced.

Title: A Discussion With Pijus
- SOLD -
Exhibition History:
This artwork has been showcased in two exhibitions including, my first solo show in April 2023 and for Kensington & Chelsea Art Week, 22 June - 2nd July 2023
Artwork Description:
Being part of the diss-collection-series the work was created whilst I was out of touch with myself and surroundings, that being said during this period, I'd moved back home to the countryside.
This time at home shed-light on grief and denial that had became challenging to bare, one outlet to purging these perceptions, was in conversing with a Tennent who'd recently taken up residence here.
In having almost daily interactions expressing and questioning my perception, it allowed me to grasp visions of a more whole hearted and grounded version of who I was.
whilst this was going on, this painting was in production and in seeing hopes for rejoining the world and becoming myself again. my colour pallete became vividly wild with colour and upon reflection, this is one of the brightest works to date.

Title: It's In My Jeans
Exhibition History: This artwork has been showcased in two exhibitions including, my first solo show in April last year and for Kensington + Chelsea, Art Week, 22 June - 2nd July 2023
Artwork Description: Have you worn an item of clothing throughout your childhood or adolescents that you couldn't possible through away despite its wear & tear? During 2022, I had one such item that I was hesitant in discarding, despite its countless rips, tears and stains. I liked the idea that whilst wearing these garments, for a short period of time they shared your experiences, go where you go, walk where you walk. and in wanting to keep these jeans 'living' I took it upon myself to give them a new lease of life.
Inspired by Reginald Sylvester II in his project [Praise our way out the grave, 2020.] His concept of painting upon a material that had been lived in; in this case an army tent. Gave me the idea to sow my jeans ( which I'd worn for well over 5 years) into the canvas, after an hour and a half the two materials felt connected, and I then started painting.
The final result has a tactile and rich aesthetic, when looking at the piece as a whole I begin to associate the flairs of colour and flicks of paint as experiences shared with this pair of jeans, and in doing so, it has become more than its creators first intentions, a once wearable material, now a tangible artefact.

Title: Koi Fish
Exhibition History:
This artwork has been showcased in two exhibitions including, my first solo show in April last year and for Kensington + Chelsea, Art Week, 22 June - 2nd July 2023
Artwork Description:
This artwork originated as a daydream, I found my attention had been submerged in a deep lake, whilst my body lay above the surface and heavy rain lay waste above the water. I tried piercing through the ripples and murkiness of the lake but couldn't focus on my subject, I'd seen glimpses of Koi Fish hiding in the depths and this sense of reaching and searching became uncannily familiar with my own situated perceptions at the time. And so in wanting to reflect further on this feeling of seeing without understanding, I created this piece in response.
Medium: Acrylic
Size: 80 - 120 cm
